Hi
Can anyone tell me what these yards might have been used for in the past?

Over view

One side of this race has a sort of angled bench and the other has sort of zig zaged sides.
Then there is this ladder type bar that swings up out of the way?

Drafting gates at entrance to ziz zagy race

This is the gate at the of zig zagy race.

There are these two side gates to access the zig zig side of race.

Ladder bar thing can be swung up.

This view looks down the race from the drafting gates end to the end gate.

So any ideas what this type of race/yard was used for?
Thanks
Richard

Looks like drenching race for cattle. The animals would be pushed up the race so that their bums went into the zigzags (like a herring bone cow shed) and their heads would be over the angle board for access. The flip up bars would be to use the race as an ordinary race. Have not seen one like this on my many farm visits but can see how it would be useful.

HI
So what they would have used way back before cattle crushes?
Makes sense as you would drive them in the "end' gate and out thru the drafting gates.
Now to decide if the yards are too far gone to try and fix up.
Thanks

Hi
Sorry ...in thru the drafting gates and out thru the end gate.
