RIP Jock, 39 years young....

Jock somehow managed to roll through a fence yesterday afternoon and into a steep gully. He did this without damaging the fence at all so it took some time to find him. All the efforts of ourselves, neighbours, vets and Whangarei Fire Service couldn't get him up again. The decision was made to euthanise and he died at around 1am.

Jock came to us on a short lease about 20 years ago. He was a gentleman and a character. He was also the most flatulent horse I've ever known.

I can't imagine what life will be like without him.

Spoook and Len were up visiting for the weekend and have made a hideous time so much easier, from Spoook finally finding Jock to Len who is at the moment getting Jock's body out of the bush so we can bury him. We can't thank them enough....

RIP Jock and thanks for everything..

What an amazing age, but what a sad end, but then perhaps he was ready to go. So good that Spook and Len were there to comfort and assist too. RIP old boy.

I am sorry to hear this, Kate. He sounded like a great horse to know and have around.

Was a sad time for all :( , so much for a relaxing weekend ;) . So glad we could be there to help at such a time.

Going over the events of the day, it was as though it had been orchestrated by fate to all happen as it did, except for the really steep hill Jock chose.
It was a beautiful little "grove" and all rescuers were able to wonder at the many glow worms in the area, in between rescue attempts of course.

Jock now has an amazing resting place with the best view on the property. (hope you don't mind the photos being posted Kate and Geoff)
