I bought 5 dorper ewes about 2 months ago. Yesterday one had a very difficult birth; we had to pull te lamb free as it wasn't in the correct position. The lamb looks fine but is excreting much less faeces than those born 2 days before. Should I be worried. The ewe do have milk I've checked and the lamb seem to be suckling good.
Check that it has an anus. So if it is a female there are two holes, and if a male that it has one hole. I have never been able to keep a lamb without an anus alive, so if it were mine (and has no anus) I would destroy it.
This is often a hereditary genetic fault, so don't use the ram again.
