Hello was created by Nate
Hi,
First time poster.
I have a lifestyle block just outside of Dannevirke. We've been fattening a R3 Hereford Steer for the freezer and hes almost getting too big.
The problem is the freezer is full and we can't eat him.
So we're wanting to know the best option in terms of moving him on. He's a prime beast and we want the best dollar we can get for him.
So we're after some help.
Do we get in contact with a stock agent and sell him individually at the sale yards?
Can he be sold to the works?
Or do we chuck him up on trade me?
cheers
Nate

Welcome to the forum.

I'd find the local (or nearest) works agent and send him straight there. Otherwise you probably put him through a whole lot of unnecessary "handling". Although if money's your priority, perhaps that's not a consideration.

try talking to your local homekill operator, they may be able to line something up.

5 acres, Ferguson 35X and implements, Hanmay pto shredder, BMW Z3, Countax ride on mower, chooks, Dorper and Wiltshire sheep. Bosky wood burning central heating stove and radiators. Retro caravan. Growing our own food and preserving it. Small vineyard, crap wine. :)

Maybe like this: www.alliance.co.nz/contact-us/plant-locations/ and then the contact us tab shows a variety of options. You'll know who's closest to you.

Just search "dannevirke meat processors" if you want other options.
